Six-Figure Verdict on Residential Car Crash in Dallas, County

DALLAS, TEXAS - On July 12, 2023, a six-person jury in Dallas County’s County Court at Law No. 4, rendered six-figure verdict in favor of our client. Visiting Judge Charles Stokes presided over the case. The verdict was almost 9 times the medical expenses in the case.

Our client was driving home on a Sunday morning after picking up breakfast for his wife and son. As he was driving down Skillman Street in the M-Streets neighborhood, a 2008 supercharged GT500 Shelby Mustang turned left from the far right lane, across three lanes of traffic, colliding with our client, who was traveling the opposite direction in the far right lane. Witnesses testified that the defendant driver “gunned it” before crashing into our client. One witness testified that drag racing is a problem on Skillman and after hearing the Defendant’s engine rev, she presumed it was another drag racer.

Our client broke his sternum and wrist in the collision, underwent three painful surgeries, and incurred a little over $56,000 in past medical expenses.

The jury found that the defendant was not only negligent, but that he committed an assault when he “punched the accelerator” and recklessly crashed into our client. The jury awarded over $400,000 in past and future pain and suffering and mental anguish in addition to his past medical expenses.
